Bring Your Car to Vielhaber’s Garage for Its Next Oil Change

Vielhaber’s Garage would be happy to change your SUV, truck, or car’s oil when it is due. The oil should be changed every 3,000 miles for conventional oil and every 5,000 miles for synthetic oil. Failing to change the motor oil when it needs it means that the oil filter will not be replaced. As the dirty filter gets dirtier, it will cause the following problems with your automobile.

Reduced Power

One of the first things that will happen is a decrease in your engine’s power. This is because the engine is being filled with grime. As the oil filter flows through the dirty filter, it picks up grime and combines it with the grime that it has picked up throughout the engine. Consequently, this grime will affect how well moving parts can operate and you will see a reduction in engine power.

Reduced Gas Mileage

As the engine struggles to run, it will use more gasoline or diesel fuel. As such, the clogged oil filter will also indirectly decrease your fuel economy. This can be problematic if you are struggling to make ends meet. Gas is extremely expensive these days and you need to get as many miles out of each gallon as you can. In the end, it is less expensive to change the oil when it needs it.

Reduced Oil Pressure

As if the two reductions above were not enough, the oil pressure is also going to be reduced by the clogged oil filter. This creates a huge problem that causes the engine control unit to turn on the oil light. This light will come on if there is not enough oil circulating through the engine or when it is time to change the oil. Reduced oil pressure can damage the engine.

Grinding Engine Noises

It does so because you don’t have as much oil circulating through the engine to protect the moving parts. Consequently, you may end up with grinding noises coming from the engine. These metallic noises are a sign that the engine parts are rubbing against each other without any protection from motor oil. Continuing to drive the automobile will damage the engine.

Increased Emissions

Finally, the engine will also increase the number of emissions it releases in your vehicle’s exhaust. This is because the dirt in the engine causes an increase of hydrocarbons.
